We recently surveyed parents and carers about our remote education offering. Key findings are:
The vast majority (97%) are happy with the remote education provision and 92% are confident that their child is learning while at home.
94% told us that the work set for their child is at the right level of challenge and 92% agree that it was the right amount.
The vast majority of parents and carers praised the school for their dedication and efforts to make sure their children are still learning while at home.
95% think that students sticking to their normal timetable is the right decision and 90% stated that they are happy with every lesson being taught over a live Google Meet.
Here's some of the lovely things our parents had to say:
"Remote learning has been great throughout lockdown."
"I have only praise for the provision offered by Tanfield School."

"Tanfield is doing an amazing job at keeping the kids up to date with their education and we are extremely thankful for that."
"The live lessons are a fantastic way to engage the children and from what I have observed, believe the quality of the teaching has been very good so far!"

"School starts at our kitchen table at 8.40 each morning. The teachers have adapted their teaching and in some instances, the timing of the element of the curriculum taught, to fit the way home learning best works. I can hear enthusiasm, (lots of) patience, praise and professionalism from teachers throughout the day. In addition, I have received excellent support through Pastoral teaching and 'The Link' staff, which has ensured our SEND plan is appropriate and functioning. This process is still following the usual yearly timetable! Then, unbelievably, there is also a Wednesday chess club, a weekly session/group lesson from the Autism peripatetic support and a guitar lesson, live online each Friday. Thank you for this excellent undertakingand your hard work."
"Maintaining the format of a normal school day through timetabled sessions has kept a much needed structure and routine to my daughter's day."
"The teachers at Tanfield are doing a brilliant job at online teaching, I feel that my child is enjoying this different type of learning but she is still looking forward to the day when she can go back into school."
"I would like to commend and express my gratitude to all of the teaching staff who have been exemplary during the lockdown periods. Head of Year wellbeing care telephone calls have been very much appreciated."
"It has been very good so far and Sam enjoys it."
"The teachers are working so hard to keep the kids' education going. My son has had to be given a shake up a few times after not bothering to log on but the teachers are always there."
"I am really impressed with how the school has developed this type of learning for the pupils. It’s not been easy for anyone however the teachers have shown amazing support towards the kids, a massive well done and thank you."
"I am very happy with the online learning. My child has managed very well with everything. The school has been very supportive and helpful."
